In Aion Online, like most MMORPGs, your first character is going to be poor, there are no charity donations from you main to help to buy the equipment you need to efficiently level. In Aion is even worse with penalties to pay if your character dies. So it is important to learn how to make money, or Kinah, in Aion.
Crafting may seem like a money sink at first but it benefits become more apparent once you start making more advanced items. What trade you pick may also depend on your class. Some classes like warriors are highly gear dependant, so Armoursmithing would be a useful trade to know, as not only will you be making money selling you items, but you will be kitted out well for your level.
When you start out only craft items that are 10 levels below your maximum crafting level. You chance of success increases, so you waste less materials. So at 70, you should be making items that are close to 60. Any higher, that the chance of failure increases, you lose materials and as accountants always like to quote, your bottom line decrease, that it you are making less profit overall.
As a crafter you should always be on the look out for resource nodes, for raw materials. This means wearing a hat that shows resources when traveling. Remember, to map your head gear and resource hat to a hotbar button and you can swap quickly. Since nodes re-spawn every 5 minutes, work out a circuit that will make you move from node to node, without having to wait for a re-spawn.
When it comes to selling items, what price should you sell for? First look at the costs of purchasing the materials that were required to make the item. Add them all up, then add a profit, and that's the price you should sell at. If you sell at a lower price than the cost of the materials, then your were better off selling the materials separately. So if you cannot sell the item for good profit, you will at least know the break even price.
Also, there are many people how dump items on the AH without knowing its true value. Usually it is crafters dumping stock that they used to level up, but sometimes there are items that are sold for less than can be sold to a NPC vendor. So it is important to gain some knowledge of prices of some common items. Then you can purchase from the AH cheaply and sell to the vendor for profit, or wait until the item becomes rare on the AH and sell for an even bigger profit.
